Actress Cha Joo Young revealed that the chest exposure scene in “The Glory” was achieved with CG (computer graphics).
On March 15th, Cha Joo Young attended an interview related to the Netflix original series “The Glory” in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
“The Glory” is a Netflix original series that tells the story of people who are caught up in the revenge of a woman whose soul was broken by school violence in her childhood. Part 2 of the drama entered Netflix’s global ranking Top 3 just after its release on March 10th and topped the charts within four days, making it a global sensation.
In “The Glory”, Cha Joo Young plays the role of Choi Hye Jeong, a stewardess and a school violence perpetrator who bullied Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo).
Although each episode of “The Glory” has left a significant impact, the chest exposure scene in which Choi Hye Jeong takes off her shirt in front of Park Yeon Jin has been the biggest topic of conversation.
Cha Joo Young shared that she had many conversations with the writer and director regarding the exposure scene. She thought it was necessary to have it in the script. However, she clarified that her chest was not exposed in the scene, and the necessary part was made with CG.
Cha Joo Young added, “I wanted to clarify exactly what happened. We had prepared a body double, CG, and I was ready for it. We put a lot of effort into making that scene work.“
Regarding the bathtub scene with Jeon Jae Joon (Park Sung Hoon), Cha Joo Young said, “The body double actor played the scene, and there were many mixed things with the exposed scene. However, the shirt exposure scene that everyone was curious about was my body, and only the necessary parts were covered with CG.”
Although the exposure scene could have been a burden for an actress, Cha Joo Young perceived it as something she did for her character.
“I thought the exposure scene was necessary to complete my character. Even for a moment, she couldn’t beat her friends, and there was nothing left to show off except her body. I don’t think anyone would be jealous of her at that moment“, she said.
