The messages were dated December 23, 2025—before Li officially held his wedding ceremony with Chen Xue Ning—and reportedly included requests to buy condoms as well as a hotel booking confirmation in Beijing’s northeastern area.
Alongside the screenshots, the woman published a lengthy post accusing Li Ruitan of “cheating before registering for marriage.” The claims quickly went viral, drawing intense public attention due to the couple’s recent nuptials. Chen Xue Ning and Li Ruitan registered their marriage on November 22, 2025, and held their wedding ceremony on January 17—meaning the controversy erupted just about a week after their wedding.
The situation escalated further when the woman claimed that she had messaged Li Ruitan again on the very day of his wedding, expressing anger and frustration. According to her account, Li responded only with a brief apology.
However, later on the evening of January 24, a social media account posted a public apology, admitting that the chat records and hotel booking information were fabricated. The individual claimed the materials were falsified with the intention of “taking advantage of the couple’s popularity.”
Facing mounting public pressure, Li Ruitan responded by posting documents related to his personal real estate assets to refute accusations that he was a “fake tycoon.” He also revealed that he had reported the incident to the police. While he did not directly address the alleged relationship, he shared a photo of himself with Chen Xue Ning, accompanied by the caption “Everything is fine,” seemingly to reassure the public.
On the evening of January 25, Chen Xue Ning posted photos of herself attending a BLACKPINK concert with her husband. She did not issue any statement regarding the controversy.
The matter did not end there. On January 26, new rumors surfaced online claiming that Li Ruitan had a child out of wedlock. In response, he released a statement clarifying that the child’s mother was not a “former girlfriend.” Li emphasized that all past relationships had ended clearly and that his marriage with Chen Xue Ning remained stable, according to Sohu.
Chen Xue Ning rose to fame on Douyin as a young singer, gaining popularity through songs such as “Green (Lü Se)” and “Your Bar Has Closed to Me.” She reportedly registered her marriage with Li Ruitan after approximately six months of dating.
