A portion of a KakaoTalk conversation between Kim Min-hee’s mother and Hong Sang-soo’s wife in 2016 was revealed through a magazine report.
Hong Sang-soo’s wife pleaded, “Please help your daughter come to her senses and return. This is unbearable for me.” In response, Kim Min-hee’s mother questioned, “Do you think the wife of a cheating husband suffers more, or the mother of a daughter in love with a married man?“
Hong Sang-soo’s wife replied, “You don’t seem to understand the pain of a wife whose husband has been stolen. Ask someone close to you who is more hurt.” Kim Min-hee’s mother retorted, “I’m crying with my heart right now.“
When Hong Sang-soo’s wife sharply criticized “Your daughter is an adulteress who destroyed a happy family“, Kim Min-hee’s mother expressed displeasure, “She’s a well-raised daughter. Watch your words.”
Hong Sang-soo’s wife responded “This isn’t the time to tell me how well you raised your daughter“, to which Kim Min-hee’s mother sought empathy, “You’re also a mother raising a daughter.”
When Hong Sang-soo’s wife emphasized “You owe me a hundred apologies for raising a daughter who has brought such suffering to a family“, Kim Min-hee’s mother commented, “The director will come to his senses and return when he realizes something.“
Despite the heated exchange, Kim Min-hee’s mother appears to have accepted her daughter’s relationship with Hong Sang-soo, as suggested by her current actions.
Recent reports indicate that Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo are residing in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, near Kim Min-hee’s mother. It seems they may have formed a close bond with her.
Media outlets have captured the couple grocery shopping together and visiting obstetrics and gynecology clinics, further fueling speculation about their life together.
