Cha Eun-woo’s Drama ‘A Good Day to Be a Dog’ Cancels Broadcast Again Even Amid 1% Rating Struggles?

It is likely that MBC’s Wednesday drama “A Good Day to Be a Dog” will cancel its new episode broadcast

According to MBC’s program schedule released on November 6th, it has been confirmed that episode 5 of “A Good Day to Be a Dog”, which was originally scheduled to air on November 8th, has been rescheduled with two alternatives.

This change is due to MBC’s plan to broadcast the second game of the 2023 KBO professional baseball postseason Korean Series between KT Wiz and LG Twins. Therefore, the decision on whether “A Good Day to Be a Dog” will be canceled or not depends on MBC’s baseball broadcast that day. The baseball game is scheduled to begin at 6:20 p.m., while the drama normally airs at 9 p.m.

A Good Day To Be A Dog

Webtoon-based series “A Good Day to Be a Dog” depicts the fantasy romance between Han Hae-na (Park Gyu-young), who is cursed to become a dog whenever she kisses, and Jin Seo-won (ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo), who is afraid of dogs.

The drama began broadcasting on October 11th but has been performing sluggishly. According to Nielsen Korea, the first and second episodes recorded 2.2% and 2.8%, but episode 3 dropped significantly to 1.9%. After canceling its broadcast for the first time due to a baseball semi-playoff, “A Good Day to Be a Dog” released episode 4 on November 1st. However, it not only failed to recover the rating performance but also fell further to 1.7%.

Various reasons have been pointed out as reasons for the poor ratings, and the most talked about issue is MBC’s broadcasting plan of releasing only one episode a week. Despite some positive reviews about the warm atmosphere and sweet love story of “A Good Day to Be a Dog”, most viewers expressed greater disappointment as broadcast cancellations have even lengthened the waiting time for new episodes.

As the drama ratings have dropped to the 1% range, viewers are looking forward to seeing if the drama will face the second broadcast cancellation on the 8th.
