Shocking Death at after Treatment at Beauty Clinic

The Taiwanese entertainment industry has been shocked after the heartbreaking news that Cai Yuxin, a 40-year-old model famously dubbed “the Lin Chiling of car models,” has died following a medical mishap at a cosmetic clinic. The incident has not only sparked national outrage but also opened a police investigation into possible medical malpractice and negligence.

Cai Yuxin passed away after falling into a coma that lasted 19 days. According to China Times, the tragedy began when she visited a cosmetic clinic in Daan, Taipei, to treat her worsening insomnia. Despite having undergone similar treatments at the same clinic before with positive early results, the model’s condition began deteriorating after the sixth session.

On the day of the incident, the clinic recommended injecting Propofol, a sedative often used in medical settings but considered highly risky when administered outside of hospital supervision. After the injection, the clinic’s doctor allegedly left, assigning only a male assistant to monitor Cai Yuxin. Within minutes, she began convulsing, her eyes rolled back, and she soon slipped into a coma. Only after initial resuscitation attempts failed did the clinic call an ambulance.

Upon arrival at a major hospital, Cai was already in critical condition, showing no signs of life. Despite more than two weeks of intensive care, her family eventually decided to withdraw life support, letting her pass peacefully.

The case has sparked immense public backlash and prompted police to detain the clinic owner, doctors, and nurses involved. Authorities are investigating potential violations under Taiwan’s Criminal and Medical Laws, including “negligent homicide and causing serious bodily harm”. An autopsy has been requested by the family to clarify the exact cause of death.

Family Accused of Exploiting Her Death

As the investigation unfolds, a parallel controversy is gaining attention: accusations that Cai’s family may have acted out of financial interest. Model and friend Weng Zihan claimed that Cai’s mother and brother insisted on removing her from life support despite desperate pleas from friends who reportedly knelt and begged for more time.

According to Weng, the family allegedly wanted access to Cai’s two real estates and even demanded 10 million Taiwan dollars (approx. 338,500 USD) in compensation from the hospital. Meanwhile, Cai’s brother has denied all accusations, stating he will take legal action against those spreading what he calls false and damaging rumors.
