Byun Woo-seok Invites “Lovely Runner” Staff to Fanmeeting, Shows Deep Loyalty

Actor Byun Woo-seok is maintaining a close bond with the production team even after the conclusion of “Lovely Runner”.

On September 26, the cinematographer for “Lovely Runner” posted in the show’s open chat room, “It’s already been almost six months since the final filming on April 9, and I’m grateful for all the love you continue to show.”

The cinematographer added, “This weekend, there will be a fan meeting for Woo-seok in Japan. Thankfully, I’ve been invited along with about ten key staff members, including the writer and director, to participate in the fan meeting. I hope to bring back photos from the event to share with everyone who has supported ‘Lovely Runner.’”

The tvN drama “Lovely Runner,” which ended in May, tells a time-slip romance where the life of artist Ryu Sun-jae (played by Byun Woo-seok), who had lost his will to live, is saved by his passionate fan Im Sol (played by Kim Hye-yoon), who travels back to 2008 to save her favorite artist. The show received much love from domestic and international audiences due to its solid narrative, warm direction, and the actors’ stellar performances.

Byun Woo-seok has often expressed his special affection for his character Ryu Sun-jae. During a viewing event for the final episode in May, he was moved to tears and said in a wrap-up interview, “Everyone loved Sun-jae so much, and I think people appreciated the beautiful scenes in the last episode. The lighting director came in a couple of hours early to set things up, and the cinematographer also went ahead to beautifully capture the location.” He expressed gratitude to the staff, “It was an emotional moment when the photos of the staff appeared after the 16th episode. I loved Sun-jae so much, and all those emotions came together, causing me to tear up.”

Even 4 months after the drama ended, Byun Woo-seok has shown loyalty by inviting the staff to the fan meeting in Japan. At the drama’s conclusion, director Yoon Jong-ho, director Kim Tae-yeop, and writer Lee Si-eun praised him, “Byun Woo-seok is a talented actor. He has taken on villain roles, historical dramas, and many projects, and it seems that he has finally found his luck here. Without those experiences, would he have been able to portray Sun-jae this way?”

Meanwhile, Byun Woo-seok is scheduled to hold the “2024 Asia Fan Meeting Tour – Summer Letter in Tokyo” on September 28 and 29 at the Musashino Forest Sports Plaza Main Arena in Tokyo, where he will meet local fans. There is much anticipation for how Byun Woo-seok will showcase himself to fans amid the warm friendships among the main cast of “Lovely Runner”.
