Byun Woo-seok is a “Death-specialist actor”? Dies in Every Role He Plays

Is trending actor Byeon Woo-seok a death-specialist actor?

Actor Byeon Woo-seok, currently at the peak of his career with tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Lovely Runner”, is garnering attention due to the fact that his characters in his recent filmography frequently meet their demise. This peculiar trend is earning him titles such as “the second Kim Kap-soo” and “death-specialist actor”.

This trend began with Netflix’s movie “20th Century Girl”. In this 2022 film, Byeon Woo-seok played Poong Woon-ho, Na Bo-ra (Kim Yoo-jung)’s classmate and a member of the broadcasting club. Woon-ho, the best friend of Baek Hyun-jin (Park Jung-woo), developed feelings for Bo-ra. However, Woon-ho’s story ended tragically with his death in New Zealand, shocking fans and leaving many heartbroken.

In his first villain role in JTBC’s “Strong Girl Nam-soon”, Byeon Woo-seok’s character also meets a fatal end. He played Ryu Shi-oh, CEO of the distribution and sales company “Doogo” who is involved in drug distribution. When Ryu Shi-oh was on the verge of being arrested by the police after his evil deeds were revealed, he ended his life with a gunshot, delivering a “good triumphs over evil” conclusion.

In tvN’s “Lovely Runner”, which catapulted Byeon Woo-seok to stardom, he has already experienced death before the series finale. The fantasy youth romance follows Ryu Seon-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), a famous idol who passed away under suspicious circumstances, purportedly by suicide, and Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon), a fervent fan thrown into a serious crisis by his death. The latter is inadvertently given the chance to go back to the past to save Seon-jae and herself.

The time slip aspect leads to Seon-jae experiencing death three times and a coma once.

With only 2 episodes left, viewers are eagerly anticipating whether Seon-jae can avoid further deaths and achieve a happy ending with Sol. As the series nears its conclusion, there is significant interest in seeing if Seon-jae and Sol’s love story will have a happy ending.
