Actor Byeon Woo-seok, currently at the peak of his career with tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Lovely Runner”, is garnering attention due to the fact that his characters in his recent filmography frequently meet their demise. This peculiar trend is earning him titles such as “the second Kim Kap-soo” and “death-specialist actor”.
This trend began with Netflix’s movie “20th Century Girl”. In this 2022 film, Byeon Woo-seok played Poong Woon-ho, Na Bo-ra (Kim Yoo-jung)’s classmate and a member of the broadcasting club. The fantasy youth romance follows Ryu Seon-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), a famous idol who passed away under suspicious circumstances, purportedly by suicide, and Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon), a fervent fan thrown into a serious crisis by his death. The latter is inadvertently given the chance to go back to the past to save Seon-jae and herself.
The time slip aspect leads to Seon-jae experiencing death three times and a coma once.
