BTS’s V Tops Japanese Oricon Charts with ‘Layover’ and Dominates Global Digital Platforms

BTS’s V has conquered the Japanese Oricon charts with his first solo album.

V’s solo album, “Layover,” released on September 8th, topped the latest Oricon chart (as of September 8th) for “Daily Album Ranking” with sales of 221,491 copies. The album’s title track, “Slow Dancing,” also topped the “Daily Digital Single Ranking.” V simultaneously dominated both album and digital charts with his solo album release.

In addition, the album’s tracks, “Blue” and “For Us,” along with “Slow Dancing (Piano Ver.),” ranked 4th to 6th, respectively, on the “Daily Digital Single Ranking.”

According to the latest chart from Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, as of September 8th, “Slow Dancing” achieved No.11 on the “Daily Top Songs Global” chart with 4,743,367 streams.

“Slow Dancing” also secured the top spot on the iTunes “Top Songs” chart in 75 countries/regions worldwide as of 7 AM KST on September 9th, while “Layover” reached the peak position on the iTunes “Top Albums” chart in 65 countries/regions, confirming V’s global impact.

V’s music has also made waves on the Korean music charts. “Layover” achieved the status of a “million-seller” by selling 1,672,138 copies on its first day of release (September 8th), setting a new record for the highest single-day sales by a K-pop soloist in history.
