BTS’s Suga Found Drunk Driving By Officer From Police Task Force Agency Near Presidential Office

The person who discovered Suga’s drunk driving was a task force officer and he didn’t recognize the BTS member

According to the police on August 7th, Suga fell while riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol near 91 Hannam, a luxury residential complex in Hannam-dong, Seoul at around 11 p.m. the previous day (August 6th). At that time, a task force officer of the National Police Agency near the Presidential Office was patrolling the area and found Suga lying on the ground.

When helping Suga get up, the task force officer noticed the smell of alcohol. Suspecting that the male idol was driving under the influence of alcohol, he took Suga to a nearby police station. The local police officer conducted a breathalyzer test and the result showed Suga’s blood alcohol concentration exceeding 0.08%, which is the level for license revocation. At the time of the accident, the police dispatched to the scene did not realize that the person who rode the scooter was a BTS member.

According to reports, the electric scooter Suga rode that day was not the one with a seat, not a regular scooter. If the vehicle is considered a scooter with an internal combustion engine, Suga will have to undergo the same investigation procedures as a car accident. In this case, Suga would not only have his license revoked but also face additional penalties for violating the Road Traffic Act. If Suga’s vehicle is recognized as a normal electric scooter, the male idol may only face license revocation and a fine of 100,000 won.

In his position, Suga confirmed that his vehicle was an electric scooter. On August 7th, he posted in a fan community, saying “After drinking alcohol for dinner last night, I got home by riding an electric scooter”, adding “I violated the Road Traffic Law due to my light thought that the distance was short and not realizing that using an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol is prohibited”.

Suga is currently fulfilling military service as a social service worker after receiving a diagnosis of a shoulder injury in 2020. He enlisted at the Nonsan Training Center in March and will be discharged in June 2025.
