Boy group BTS has succeeded in winning awards for 5 consecutive years at the American Music Awards, one of the top three popular music awards ceremonies in the US.
On November 20th (local time), the organizers of the American Music Awards (AMAs), made an official announcement on their official website.
According to this announcement, BTS won the trophy for the “Favorite Pop Duo or Group” categories, defeating outstanding candidates such as Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maneskin, and One Republic.
BTS won at the AMAs for the first time in 2018, when they secured the trophy by being crowned in the Favorite Social Artist category.
Ever since, the group has been on the list of winners for 5 years in a row until this year, having been announced as a constant winner for Favorite Pop Duo or Group in the last 4 years and setting a record.
In 2021, BTS also made history by becoming the 1st Kpop artist to win Artist of the Year, which corresponds to the grand prize.
On the other hand, BTS did not attend this year’s awards ceremony. Member Jungkook attended the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and performed enthusiastically.
