BTS V mentions his hard time in 2018, “BTS thought about disbandment and I even thought I should get hurt”

BTS V and Suga talked about when they had a hard during ‘FAKE LOVE’ promotion

V guested on the new episode of “Suchwita”, which was released on BTS’s official channel on September 11th.

That day, V said, “‘FAKE LOVE’ promotion was the toughest time in my life”, adding, “People don’t know why we were having such a hard time or why we were struggling so much and there’s no one who can understand”.

Suga shared, “At that time, everyone was so exhausted. Of course, we always did our best but there were many moments when we felt burned out. When those moments hit Taehyung (V’s real name), we talked a lot about how burned out we were”.

V then confessed, “After some time had passed, I started to compare myself to others. ‘Because my pace is slower than the members and my thoughts are a bit different’, I thought this a lot. Whenever I looked at our members when we perform, the members are so perfect and they enjoy the stage. ‘But why am I the only one like this?’ is what I thought at that time. So relatively, my burnout was severe. At the time, all of us were like ‘So what if our results are good?’, ‘Why do we have to hurt ourselves this much in pursuit of results?’, Those were my thoughts as I was exhausted.”

He continued, “I was so exhausted. I thought so much about taking just one day off. After we shot the MV for ‘FAKE LOVE’, I was so exhausted that I asked, ‘Since tomorrow we only have dance practice, would it be okay if we took a day off?’. But we were preparing for our comeback and it was an important dance practice. So we couldn’t rest. All this negativity piled up inside me, I didn’t think I could do anything in that state so I even thought I should get hurt.”

The beside track “Outro: Tear” in the 2018 album “Love Yourself: Tear” depicts the members thinking about disbandment, rather than a song about a breakup between lovers.

Hearing V’s confession, Suga said, “It was also when we were talking through contract renewal. Then as Namjoon, j-hope, and I were writing ‘Tear’ we sent a long text to other members saying, ‘Love you guys’”. V responded, “After seeing that, Jung Kook and I found the will to continue. We got to think more positively. So it was really touching. Because of that text, I was able to get back on my feet again”, expressing his gratitude to Suga.

Overcoming their big crisis, BTS is now standing tall as world stars. They recently announced their group activity hiatus due to members’ enlistment. However, each of them is showcasing their presence by performing at big festivals and topping music charts around the world with solo promotions.

As the last member of BTS to debut solo, V gained recognition for his unique musical color with the release of “Layover” on September 4th and achieved the ‘million seller’ title. V said, “Seeing the members making solo debuts, I was so burdened when it came to my turn. I’m feeling so much pressured but I really like the album”.

V and Suga also raised fans’ expectations for when the members meet again as a complete group after completing solo activities and military service.
