BTS to NewJeans, HYBE Labels Shows ‘Strong Presence’ in Overseas Streaming

HYBE Labels artists have shown a strong presence by dominating 8 out of the top 10 most streamed K-pop songs overseas in the first half of this year.

On the 25th, Spotify announced the ‘2024 Korean Music Global Impact’ list. This list includes the 30 K-pop songs released between January 1 and June 30 of this year that were most streamed by Spotify users worldwide, excluding South Korea.

On this list, BELIFLAB’s ILY:1’s ‘Magnetic’ topped the charts. Next, Big Hit Music’s BTS member V’s ‘FRI(END)S’ came in at 2nd place, while Source Music’s LE SSERAFIM’s ‘Smart’ and ‘EASY’ secured the 3rd and 4th positions, respectively. HYBE Labels artists dominated the top ranks on Spotify’s K-pop chart.

Additionally, KOZ Entertainment’s representative producer and artist Zico’s ‘SPOT! (feat. JENNIE)’ is in 6th place. Tomorrow X Together’s ‘Deja Vu’ is 8th, Jungkook’s ‘Never Let Go’ is 9th, and MAX’s ‘STUPID IN LOVE (feat. HUH YUNJIN of LE SSERAFIM)’ featuring LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin is ranked 10th.

Notably, the rookie group ILY:1’s performance is remarkable. Their debut song ‘Magnetic’ is considered one of the biggest hits of the first half of the year. This song made history by being the first K-pop group’s debut song to enter both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK’s Official Singles Chart Top 100.

BTS’s strength has been proven once again. Not only V’s ‘FRI(END)S’ and Jungkook’s ‘Never Let Go’, but also J-Hope’s ‘NEURON (with Gaeko, Yoon Mirae)’ is at 11th place, RM’s ‘Come back to me’ is at 19th, RM’s ‘LOST!’ is at 22nd, and J-Hope’s ‘i wonder… (with Jungkook of BTS)’ is at 27th, making it a total of six solo tracks by BTS members in the rankings. BTS is the artist with the largest share in this list.

Although not in the top 10, ADOR’s NewJeans’ ‘How Sweet’, released on May 24, ranked 20th, showcasing their presence. This ranking was achieved in just about a month, reflecting their global influence and popularity.

Pledis Entertainment’s ‘album powerhouses’ also confirmed their strength. SEVENTEEN’s best album title track ‘MAESTRO’ is at 26th, and their junior group TWS’s debut title track ‘첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아’ is at 29th, both included in the top 30.

With Zico, BTS, SEVENTEEN, Tomorrow X Together, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, TWS, and ILY:1 evenly gaining popularity abroad, HYBE Labels artists’ songs filled half of the top 30 tracks on the ‘Korean Music Global Impact’ list.

This is seen as a positive outcome of HYBE’s multi-label system. HYBE aims to create a foundation for the birth and success of diverse K-pop creators through this system and continuously provide high-quality content to sustain K-pop as a lasting industry.
