According to Netflix’s official Top 10 website on April 1, BTS: The Return recorded 3.3 million views during the week of March 23–29, ranking No.3 globally in the Non-English Film category.
What makes the achievement even more impressive is that the documentary was released worldwide on March 27, meaning it reached the Top 3 in just three days. The film also entered the Top 10 in 26 countries, including South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, and Peru, highlighting BTS’s continued global reach.
The documentary follows BTS as they prepare their fifth full-length album ARIRANG , released after a hiatus of approximately 3 years and 9 months due to military service. It captures not only the creative process behind the album but also the members’ honest thoughts, struggles, and emotional burdens during their comeback.

Director Bao Nguyen revealed that he aimed to portray the group’s intimate, family-like dynamic by giving members camcorders to film themselves, creating a raw, home-video feel. He explained that while he initially expected the creative process to be straightforward, he soon realized the immense pressure the members were under. To capture genuine moments, the production team minimized interference, often filming in a way that allowed the artists to forget the presence of cameras.
BTS’s comeback impact extends far beyond the documentary. Their live content BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE: ARIRANG ranked No.3 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Non-English TV category) with 3.6 million views, charting in 35 countries.
Musically, the group continues to dominate global charts. The title track “SWIM” from the album ARIRANG debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking BTS’s 7th No.1 hit. Additionally, multiple tracks from the album entered the Hot 100 simultaneously, and the group also topped both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. All tracks ranked across top positions globally, setting unprecedented records
Following their successful comeback, BTS is set to launch the “BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG,” kicking off on April 9 at Goyang Stadium in South Korea. With chart-topping music, record-breaking content, and a deeply personal documentary, BTS: The Return not only documents a comeback, it cements BTS’s status as a global cultural phenomenon.
