BTS Suga “The company ran out of money, so we were all told to go home”

Global super group BTS’ Suga and J-Hope confessed their inner struggles during trainee days.

On July 19th, a “SUCHWITA” video was uploaded on BTS‘ YouTube channel “BANGTANTV”. In this video, J-Hope and Suga had a candid conversation. Suga said, “Remember when we were all told to go home?

Suga told J-Hope, “Because the company ran out of money. We were told to find our own places. Me, you, and Namjoon said, ‘We can’t move out.’ We said we didn’t have any money to move out. So, we stuck it out.

Suga expressed his surprise, “For the last time, they got an investment and we were able to debut with that. Sometimes I wonder what kind of vision the seven of us had to stick it out for that long.” J-Hope agreed and said, “You have to give it to Producer Bang Si Hyuk. It’s amazing how he got us together.” Suga and J-Hope looked deeply moved, saying, “No one knew this would happen.” Suga added, “But now that I think about it after coming this far, it’s like, wow… We managed to hang in there and get through it all.”

J-Hope said, “We stuck it out. And that’s why we’re here. I think we were lucky that no one left at that point.” Suga then confessed, “I was about to leave. We always had burritos for breakfast from that burrito truck. Later, I got so sick of it. We’d get up at 6 am then come home at 4 am and wash up to go to bed. It was bad for me too, but Jungkook, Jimin and Taehyung were totally out of it. I felt so bad but I felt that one of us had to step up and do something. So I was biding my time to run.” J-Hope laughingly said, “But we were in the States. Where would you run off to in the US?

Suga went on to say, “Other than you and Jimin, none of the others had really danced before.” J-Hope shared, “But it’s not like things worked out just by doing well myself. The guys who are on the receiving end have to respond well and do things together to be able to create synergy. I’m not the only one who did well. All the members followed my lead well too. They were guys who had never danced before. So what else could they do? So I was just grateful that everyone made the effort.”

Suga expressed his gratitude to the members, “A team can’t be good just by one person being good on their own. You have to be in tune with each other. For the past ten years, there were ups and downs but I think we worked pretty well together.” J-Hope said, “Everyone has a clear idea about their work and who they are.” Suga showed affection, “I think our team will last a long time. And I think in 2025, we’ll be able to go on tour as a whole group.” J-Hope confidently said, “I think this time is really important. When we get together with everything we’ve learned, the synergy will be immense.
