BTS RM mentions his enlistment, “I’m going to the army soon. Jin will return first and fill the position confidently”
BTS’s leader RM (real name Kim Nam Joon) mentioned his enlistment while sharing precious memories with ARMY.
On June 17th, the “BTS 10th Anniversary FESTA @Yeouido” event was held in Hangang Park in Yeouido, Seoul to commemorate the 10th anniversary of BTS’s debut.
That day, RM attended the site in person to host a corner called “5 p.m., I’m Kim Nam Joon” and prepared a special program to communicate with ARMY (BTS’s fandom). In the first part, RM turned into a daily ratio DJ and introduced stories sent by ARMY.
While reading a story of an ARMY, who has been an office worker for 10 years, RM smiled and said, “When I was in the waiting room, ‘No More Dream’ was played. All of my dark past during that time is stored on Tistory, SoundCloud, blog, Twitter, etc. My friends sent them to me on our 10th anniversary. When I saw them, I even thought ‘It was so embarrassing that I wanted to die’. Just kidding!”.
He continued, “I attended the same school as Yoon Gi hyung (Suga) when we were trainees. It’s truly touching to think that now that I’m already 30 and we are celebrating our 10th Debut Anniversary Festa together. It’s been such a long time”, adding “I’m grateful for being able to be with BTS from when we were students to when we became colleagues and members of society. I believe that many of you are like that, and I will continue to work and live hard. Thank you so much.”
In addition, RM also responded to a fan who shared the story that they were about to get married soon. The male idol said, “If you leave your account detail, I will send you a wedding congratulatory gift”. Reading a fan’s comment that said “Hello Nam Joon. I’m an ARMY from Vietnam”, RM replied, “Nice to meet you. I’m also going to the army soon”, drawing attention as he mentioned his enlistment.
RM then received a surprise phone call from Jungkook, who is currently in LA, the U.S. While hiding his identity, Jungkook said, “I started doing music after seeing you perform as Runch Randa. I don’t rap, but I sing”. Jungkook even gave a hint by singing a verse, but RM didn’t notice it. As a result, he replied, “If I had been good at singing like you, I wouldn’t have become a rapper. Since you’ve been watching me since the Runch Randa era, you know what kind of struggles I’ve been through, right? Thank you for not leaving and supporting me”, expressing his gratitude.
Later, Jungkook revealed his identity by saying, “Nam Joon hyung, you don’t recognize my voice?”, adding, “It’s 1:30 a.m. here, but I’m still answering the call”. RM then laughed and said, “I didn’t recognize it was Jungkook. I’m upset. I occasionally run into Jung Kook at the company, and I’m touched to know that everyone is working so hard. I think it would be fun if we all get back as a team and work hard together. I hope our Jungkook is doing well. Because he’s very good at singing”.
He also had a phone conversation with member V. V, using the nickname “Happy World’s Kim Namjoon,” said, “I originally intended to go there,” and drew attention by cheering, “Hyung, you’re amazing!”
In the second part, the segment “R-10 Note Exam” was prepared, where they solved BTS-related questions and RM had a pleasant time with ARMY.
It was time to conclude “5 PM, Kim Namjoon.” RM said, “Everything changes. I have changed a lot too. It’s been 10 years. I vividly remember coming to Yeouido Hangang Park as a trainee and watching the fireworks festival as a high school student. I couldn’t imagine coming to Yeouido for the 10th anniversary and meeting all of you through Weverse Live. I’m grateful to everyone who provided us with this opportunity. I don’t know what we’ll be doing for the 15th and 20th anniversaries.”
He also mentioned, “When I think about next year around this time, I think our Jin hyung will be the first to make a comeback. I hope he can fill the position confidently.” Previously, members Jin and J-Hope enlisted as active-duty soldiers. Jin is currently serving as an instructor in the 5th Infantry Division Training Battalion located in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, and his expected discharge date is June 12, 2024. J-Hope is serving as an instructor in the 36th Infantry Division Training Battalion located in Wonju, Gangwon Province, and will be discharged on October 17, 2024.
Lastly, RM said, “I can’t guarantee what emotions we’ll have for the 15th and 20th anniversaries, but I want you to know that we always think of you. I’m grateful to all the ARMYs who have given us wonderful experiences. Thank you to everyone who has loved BTS for the past 10 years.” He concluded by shouting, “Let’s continue to live well in this damn world. Fighting for our existence!”
