In an interview published on the fan platform Weverse Magazine on July 10, Jin spoke about continuing schedules right after his discharge by participating in the ‘BTS Festa’ the day after his release. He stated, “It’s something I absolutely had to do.”
Jin was discharged from active duty in the army on June 12. The very next day, on June 13, he attended the ‘2024 Festa,’ where he met and interacted with ARMY in a hugging event, which became a hot topic.
He mentioned that participating in the ‘BTS Festa’ was very challenging, stating, “It was a lot of pressure and difficult because I didn’t have enough time to prepare. It wasn’t easy, but I did it out of love for ARMY.”
Regarding his discharge from the military, Jin commented, “It still feels like a vacation, and I feel like I might have to go back to the base. It doesn’t feel like I’m fully discharged yet.”
He also shared that he still gets very sleepy around 10 or 11 PM, but he is gradually adjusting by aligning his sleeping schedule with his work hours, sometimes going to bed late and waking up at 5 AM.
Reflecting on his discharge day, when the BTS members celebrated with him, Jin recalled, “RM was playing the saxophone next to me, but I didn’t even realize it at the time. I only found out later online that the background music for my discharge was ‘Dynamite.’ Since I was an instructor, I was used to hearing the military band’s recorded saxophone sounds at ceremonies, so I thought they were playing it for my discharge as well.”
Currently, all BTS members except Jin are still serving in the military. Jin noted, “The members kept saying how jealous they were of me. The protocol team members watching commented that they had never seen the other members look so genuinely envious. I didn’t brag but teased them a lot. They got really annoyed, but their reactions were so good that I kept teasing them for about 30 minutes”.
Debuting in 2013 and having received love from ARMY for 11 years, Jin was asked how he could give his best every day for such a long time. He replied sincerely, “BTS really loves ARMY, so it’s only natural to give your best for the people you like.”
Meanwhile, Jin has recently been confirmed as a torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
