BTS Jungkook shares, “I want to prove myself through my music. I want my name to become a shorthand for singing”

BTS’s Jungkook expressed his thoughts on “Proof” as an artist who wants to prove himself through music.

On June 15th, an interview titled “I want to prove myself through my music”, which was conducted with Jungkook for the release of BTS’s album “Proof”, was posted on Weverse magazine.

In this interview, Jungkook continued to reveal his in-depth opinions about different things, including his growth in vocal skills, the direction he needs to follow, his love for performing on stage, song production, etc., as an artist.

When asked, “What does singing mean to you?”, Jungkook expressed his ambition, saying “I want my name to become a shorthand for it.” He then said, “I want to receive a lot of recognition and to be able to hear my own singing and think, ‘Wow, I’m really, really good’”. He explained, “Now that I’m a singer and have appeared on so many different stages, there are times I do such a good job up there that it gives me goosebumps”, adding that he kept thinking “How freeing and fun would it be to get up on stage and be able to sing the perfect song?”.

Jungkook, who is one of the main vocalists in BTS, shared, “It turns out I discovered something new after I finished recording them: When you’re recording, the feeling is more important than your vocal technique” adding, “I think I was trying to embellish less and convey more sincerity”, expressing his unique belief that he wanted to sing a song with all sincerity, not just for the recording.

In addition, when asked, “How did you feel about the recent concerts?”, Jungkook showed his deep affection for performing, saying “I figured out after the concert that I just really enjoy putting on a show. I loved finally being able to perform again and I want to just keep on doing it.”

Jungkook, who has both exceptional skills and versatile talents, talked about the “proof” of his passion for music. Jungkook revealed that he learns drums, dancing, boxing, studying English, reading books, etc. every day since these skills are all helpful for his performances, lyrics making, interviews, and everything he needs to do as a singer, raising expectations for Jungkook to become an all-rounder artist who will grow further in the future.

Also, Jungkook said, “Rather than winning the Grammy, I’m more interested in proving myself through my music”, emphasizing that it was his “proof”. He also explained that realized what he had to do clearly after the pandemic, adding “Even my perspective on life used to fluctuate wildly, but now I think I’m more centered.”

Lastly, Jungkook humbly said that he was motivated to focus on music when he saw other members showing their ambition and affection for music then warmly ended the interview.
