BTS Jimin Becomes The Only Asian Artist in the Top 10 of US Best-Selling Downloads

BTS Jimin’s ‘Like Crazy’ continues to dominate the US charts in the first half of 2023.

According to chart data, Jimin’s ‘Like Crazy’ recorded 289,000 downloads, making it the best-selling download in the US for the first half of 2023.

Following Miley Cyrus’s ‘Flowers,’ Jimin rose to second place, surpassing renowned pop stars in the US such as Morgan Wallen and Beyoncé, making him the only Asian artist in the top 10 among both groups and solo artists.

Additionally, ‘Like Crazy,’ one of the three songs that debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 this year, is the only K-pop song, and it climbed to 7th place on the World Digital Song Sales chart on the 15th, setting a record of being the most successful K-pop solo artist in recent years, including four weeks at number one among Korean solo songs and maintaining its charting position for 11 consecutive weeks.

On the ‘Global 200’ chart, where it debuted at number two, Jimin’s ‘Like Crazy’ climbed five spots to rank 40th, and on the ‘Global (excluding the US)’ chart, where it also debuted at number two, it rose nine spots to reach 24th. Jimin achieved the highest ranking among Korean solo artists in both charts, maintaining his 15-week consecutive charting.

The album ‘FACE,’ which includes ‘Like Crazy,’ achieved the unprecedented record of four consecutive weeks at number one and 14 consecutive weeks in the top 10 on the World Albums chart, ranking 11th this week, marking the highest position for a Korean solo album, and continuing its 15-week charting streak. It also maintained its dominance on the ‘Top Album Sales’ chart at 82nd place and the ‘Top Current Album Sales’ chart at 47th place for 15 consecutive weeks.

Jimin’s participation in the movie ‘Fast & Furious 10’ OST ‘Angel Pt.1’ climbed to 35th place on the ‘Pop Airplay’ chart, charting for five consecutive weeks. It also charted at 72nd place on the ‘Global 200’ chart and 51st place on the ‘Global (excluding the US)’ chart, showcasing a remarkable performance by having two songs on both charts.

Despite the absence of major collaborations or extensive radio promotions, Jimin, with his sincere music that tells his own story, achieved an unprecedented feat of reaching the top of the ‘Hot 100’ chart, continuing to make history and paving the way as a pioneer for Korean solo artists.
