South Korea’s leading telecommunications company KT Corporation has made a rare decision to fully close its headquarters on March 21, 2026, the same day as a highly anticipated concert by BTS.
According to reports from News1 on March 9, the company issued an internal notice announcing that the building would be completely shut down during the event. The decision was made out of safety concerns as an unusually large crowd is expected to gather in the area.
Under the policy, all entry and exit to the building will be prohibited throughout the day. Employees will not be allowed to access the headquarters, and businesses operating inside the building will also temporarily suspend their services.
Commercial tenants located inside the building—including cafés, bakeries, and restaurants—have reportedly been notified in advance so they can prepare for the temporary closure.
The measure comes as authorities anticipate a surge of both domestic and international fans traveling to attend BTS’s concert. The expected influx of people is likely to affect nearby buildings and businesses around the venue.
Notably, KT’s newly built headquarters sits directly across from the concert venue, making the building a popular vantage point for observing large-scale events. Because of this unique location, officials believe the risk of crowds gathering around the building could become significant.
A company representative explained that the closure was necessary due to the expected scale of the event, emphasizing that both employees and commercial facilities inside the building will remain closed for the entire day.
However, the decision has also sparked debate online. Some netizens expressed frustration, arguing that the concert could create inconvenience for nearby businesses and residents. A few critics even directed their complaints toward HYBE, BTS’s management agency, claiming the event was placing excessive pressure on the surrounding urban infrastructure.
Others suggested that large concerts should be held in specialized venues rather than locations that might disrupt nearby offices and businesses.
This is not the first time BTS’s comeback plans have triggered discussion about public resources. Earlier reports suggested that public transportation near the concert venue could also face temporary restrictions, which further fueled mixed reactions from the public.
