According to BigHit Music on April 28, the commissioners of El Paso County presented BTS with the prestigious “Estimado Amigo” award on April 27 (local time).
The award recognizes the group’s contribution to promoting tourism, boosting community pride, and elevating El Paso as a major destination for global performances.
In addition to the award, El Paso County passed a resolution declaring May 2 and May 3—BTS’s concert dates—as “El Paso BTS Weekend.”
This rare honor highlights not only the group’s cultural influence but also the anticipation surrounding their performances in the region.
Officials also praised BTS for the meaningful social messages embedded in their music, as well as their positive global impact.
The influence of BTS extends far beyond music. Brooke Underwood, an official from El Paso’s tourism agency, projected that the two-day concert will generate approximately $75 million USD in economic impact for the local community.
This includes increased tourism, hotel bookings, local business revenue, and overall city exposure.
BTS recently kicked off their “BTS World Tour ‘Arirang’ in North America” at Raymond James Stadium, successfully completing three shows in Tampa.
Following this, they are set to perform at Sun Bowl Stadium, marking a historic milestone as the first Korean act to hold a solo concert at the venue.
