BTS recently unveiled the first concept photos and album details for their upcoming fifth studio album, ARIRANG, but the reveal has sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans and netizens criticizing the design. Shortly after the images were released, discussions began circulating on Korean online communities, where several users expressed disappointment over what they described as a minimalistic and underwhelming concept.

Some commenters argued that the album visuals lacked creativity compared to recent releases from other artists.
- “What is this? Even other idols who have been in the industry a long time still create new concepts.”
- “There’s not a single ounce of effort in the concept or design,” another added.
Others said the album artwork did not make them interested in purchasing the album. However, reactions to the vinyl versions of the album covers were somewhat different. The vinyl designs featured a slightly more distinct aesthetic, though opinions still remained divided.

The individual member concept photos also drew criticism from some viewers. While photos of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook were released as part of the promotion, some netizens claimed the editing and photography felt unusual or poorly executed.
Several comments pointed out that the visuals did not highlight the members’ appearances as effectively as expected.
- “Is this really the best they could do?”
- “The editing looks strange.”
- “With visuals like theirs, how did the photos turn out like this?”

Some even questioned the design team behind the project, suggesting that the album artwork looked overly simple for a group of BTS’s global stature. Despite the criticism, many fans also defended the group, arguing that the concept might carry a deeper artistic meaning that has not yet been fully revealed.
Meanwhile, BTS has also recently been caught up in another discussion online after reports claimed the group walked the so-called “King’s Path” during their comeback stage, further fueling conversation surrounding their upcoming release. As anticipation for ARIRANG continues to grow, fans are waiting to see whether additional concept materials or teasers will shift public opinion before the album’s official release.
