“BTS and BLACKPINK are Treated Like Slaves”, said North Korea

South Korean netizens are baffled by a North Korea media’s statement that BTS and BLACKPINK are treated like slaves.

Recently, an article published by a North Korean propaganda media site was brought up on the Korean forum Instiz, drawing huge attention.

In particular, the North Korean media claimed that idol groups such as BTS and BLACKPINK are treated like slaves in South Korea and living miserable lives under the control of large corporations.

“Large corporations are completely blocking idol singers from the outside world, forcing them to undergo rigorous training by letting them sleep for only 2-3 hours a day, and taking most of the profits they earn in the name of training expenses”, the North Korean site also wrote, adding, “Many young female singers suffer from mental and physical pain, suffering from severe human insults and suffering during the harsh training process, and in the case of young female singers, they are even forced to provide sexual services to politicians and businessmen. Their lives are like living in a prison without bars.”

Upon seeing such claims, South Korean netizens are baffled, and cannot help but express their confusion in the comment section.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • If BTS and BLACKPINK are slaves then what am I…
  • If slaves live like BTS and BLACKPINK, then I also want to be a slave…
  • Do slaves earn hundreds of billions of won…
  • North Korean must know about BTS and BLACKPINK so even their media mention them
  • North Korea is jealous that they don’t have K-pop
  • Being idols is difficult and busy but they are not forced to choose that career. Not to mention no slaves would earn so much money LOL
