Britney Spears Memoir Movie Confirmed: Will It Address Justin Timberlake’s Abortion Pressure?

Global pop star Britney Spears will have her memoir turned into a movie, causing ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake to be mentioned.

On August 1 (local time), Variety reported that Universal Pictures has secured the rights to Britney Spears’ best-selling memoir “The Woman in Me” and has begun production of the film with “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt.

Additionally, Britney Spears shared the news of this “secret project” on social media, mentioning that Platt has always made her favorite movies and asked fans to “stay tuned” for more updates.

Universal acquired the rights to the Grammy winner’s memoir (published last October, selling over 2.5 million copies in the U.S. alone) after a fierce bidding war.

In her memoir, Britney Spears chronicles her journey to pop superstardom, from her days on the “Mickey Mouse Club” to her high-profile and scrutinized guardianship lawsuit, with surprising candor and humor.

Variety described the memoir as “brutally honest,” delving deeply into her relationships with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and her family, documenting the predatory nature of those who sought to control her life.

Previously, the pop star caused a stir with her claim in the book that Timberlake pressured her into having an abortion. At the time, she revealed that Justin was not happy about the pregnancy, insisting that they were not ready to have a baby and were too young.

According to Britney Spears, she would never get the abortion if it had been left up to her alone, adding that Justin was certain he didn’t want to be a father. She described the abortion experience as “one of the most painful things” she had ever endured.

Meanwhile, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake dated from 1999 to 2002. Both born in 1981, they were around 18 to 21 years old during their relationship. It is estimated that Spears had the abortion when she was 19.
