Famous singer BoA confessed about the struggles she has experienced as a female singer in her late 30s.
In the July 6th episode of the tvN program “Dancing Queens on the Road”, footage of the cast members preparing for a stage where they will perform each other’s hit songs was revealed.
Here, BoA, who visited Uhm Jung Hwa’s house, opened up about her concerns regarding the upcoming stage.
The female star, who debuted way back in the year 2000, said, “I didn’t know I would be a singer for this long. Back in our time, didn’t idol groups disband after five years? I thought I wouldn’t be singing anymore after five years. If I didn’t continue, I thought I would go to university, study, and get married.”
BoA then laughed and continued, “In an old interview, I said my dream was to become a housewife”, to which Uhm Jung Hwa empathized and responded that she thought the same.
At this, BoA confessed, “I felt really strange when I reached the age of twenty-nine. When I turned thirty, I thought a lot about what I should do in the future. Since the people I used to work with rarely appear on TV anymore, reaching the point of being a female singer in her thirties was the most difficult.”
The female singer then mentioned there’s only about 4 years left until she entered her 40s, which shocked Uhm Jung Hwa, who exclaimed, “You? Already?”
On the other hand, “Dancing Queens on the Road” is a program that follows the footsteps of some of Korea’s “best female artists”, who tour the nation, enter people’s daily lives, directly meet various fans, and enjoy concerts together.
The program, which airs every Thursday night at 10:30 PM (KST), features Kim Wan Sun, Uhm Jung Hwa, Lee Hyori, BoA, Hwasa, and Hong Hyun Hee as fixed cast members.
