According to Crazy Horse’s selection criteria, dancers must have a minimum height of 1.68m, but Lisa is 1.67m tall
Crazy Horse Paris has been gaining significant attention from Asian netizens only after Lisa announced her performance there. Korean and Chinese netizens have been heavily criticizing Lisa’s decision for tarnishing the image of a K-pop idol, describing her performances as “vulgar and suggestive.”
Many netizens are concerned that Lisa could have a negative influence on young fans. However, U.S. and European fans appreciate the shows at Crazy Horse. The selection criteria for dancers at Crazy Horse are particularly strict, and not just anyone can easily meet them.
“Newcomers must meet strict physical requirements set by Alain Bernardin, the founder of Crazy Horse Paris in 1951, to respect the tradition of this iconic venue,” as stated on the Crazy Horse Paris website.
The criteria for joining Crazy Horse, established in 1951, are extremely rigorous. Dancers must be at least 1.68 meters tall and not exceed 1.72 meters to maintain visual harmony on the stage. They must also meet a ratio of 1/3 to 2/3 between leg length and chest, with a distance of 21 cm between the two breast tips and 13 cm from the waist to the pubic bone.
Some sources suggest that based on these criteria, only 4% of applicants are selected. Most dancers come from Eastern European countries, including Ukraine and Serbia.
According to tradition, Lisa does not meet the height requirement, lacking just 1 cm to reach the minimum set for Crazy Horse dancers.
However, according to Crazy Horse Paris, these criteria now mean little compared to the importance of having that “extra something,” as Alain Bernardin often said, something a bit crazy and unique.
In addition, candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a background in classical ballet. Crazy Horse especially values candidates with acting talent. A select few will undergo training for 3-5 months. During that time, they will learn how to become true Crazy Girls and perform not only at the cabaret but also at theaters worldwide.
Despite the demanding requirements for Crazy Girls, their salaries are not as high as one might expect. Related sources reveal that the average annual salary for dancers is around 412,000 Hong Kong dollars (around $52,611), equivalent to 133 Hong Kong dollars ($16.98) per hour. This falls short of expectations compared to other performing artists, considering the stringent body management Crazy Horse dancers must adhere to.
