BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Considered for Lead Role in “Monthly Boyfriend”

According to OSEN on August 29th, Jisoo has recently been offered the female lead role in “Monthly Boyfriend” by the production team. A representative from BLISSOO, the agency managing Jisoo’s solo activities, confirmed, “She has received the offer and is currently reviewing it.”

Jisoo made her acting debut with JTBC’s drama “Snowdrop”, which concluded on January 30th, 2022. “Snowdrop” is set in Seoul in 1987 and tells the story of Soo-ho, a graduate student who suddenly bursts into a women’s university dormitory covered in blood, and Yeong-ro, a student who hides and heals him despite the severe surveillance and threats. The drama gained significant attention, especially with Jisoo and actor Jung Hae-in in the lead roles.

Jisoo completed filming for the movie “Omniscient Reader”, based on the popular web novel of the same name, set to be released next summer. The film stars actors Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Min-ho, with Jisoo playing the role of Lee Ji-hye, a high school student who was originally a character in “Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World”, fighting under Yoo Joong-hyuk (Lee Min-ho)’s leadership

Last month, Jisoo also finished filming for Coupang Play’s series “Newtopia”, where she co-stars with actor Park Jeong-min. “Newtopia” depicts the process of soldier Lee Jae-yoon and his girlfriend Kang Young-joo fighting against a horde of zombies and running towards each other against the background of an air defense unit in a high-rise building in Seoul.

In February, Jisoo became the third BLACKPINK member to establish her own solo label BLISSOO while continuing group activities under YG Entertainment. Her older brother Kim Jung-hoon serves as the CEO of BLISSOO, and it is expected that Jisoo’s solo activities will focus primarily on her acting career.
