BLACKPINK’s Jennie No.1 Star Whose Image Was Damaged The Most By Smoking Issues

According to the result of the vote titled “Stars whose images were greatly damaged due to smoking controversies” on DC Inside, Jennie placed No.1. The vote was conducted for seven days, from July 15th to July 21st.

Ranking No.1 with 8410 out of 92,318 votes (10%), Jennie recently caused a stir when she was caught vaping indoors because of the footage of her smoking an e-cigarette indoors. Aside from that, netizens also criticized Jennie’s attitude and lack of consideration as she blew the smoke into the face of a makeup staff standing in front of her.

In the end, Jennie’s agency apologized, saying “Jennie already apologized directly to the staff and is reflecting on her action”. However, public rage continued as Jennie did not apologize herself.

Lee Chae-young came in No.2 with 7940 votes (9%). Known as a member of fromis_9, Lee Chae-young faced smoking suspicions after she posted on SNS a photo containing an object believed to be an electronic cigarette. Back then, netizens showed mixed reactions. While some defended the female idol, saying “She’s already an adult, she can smoke”, others said, “Then you have to be responsible for the damage to your image”.

No.3 went to Do Kyung-soo (EXO’s D.O) with 7935 votes (9%). Indoor smoking controversy emerged due to a YouTube video showing D.O blowing smoke through his nose in the waiting room of a program. Despite explaining that he used an electronic cigarette without nicotine, D.O was still fined for smoking indoors.
