BLACKPINK’s Jennie Dissed YG in Upcoming Song?

The newly-revealed lyrics of BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s upcoming song is drawing attention for allegedly “shading” YG.

On June 19, BLACKPINK’s Jennie opened her TikTok account and published a video using her song “SOLO” as the background music. The following day, Jennie shared a video featuring her collaboration with BeatsByDre.

This time, the song played in the video is displayed as “UNTITLED – Jennie” and links back to Jennie’s own profile, meaning that it’s an unreleased song from Jennie herself.

As a result, netizens start to pay keen attention to the lyrics, which is as below:

“Taken for granted, taken as hostage,

Carried the baggage, carried the past us,

As luck would have it

Future was written

They didn’t plan for women to woman up.

They didn’t plan it but we came out of history like f*ck it

They didn’t want it but we came out of history like justice”

The harsh lyrics are thus believed to be referring to Jennie’s experience as BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment, from being mistreated and “taken as hostage” to having “carried the baggage”.

It also dissed haters, who disliked BLACKPINK’s success but had to admit that the group “came out of history”, and affirmed Jennie’s ability to “woman up”.

On the SNS platform X (formerly Twitter), international fans have expressed excitement about Jennie’s “diss track” and believe that Jennie will release further solo hits after her departure from YG.

However, some also believe that Jennie’s lyrics may actually have nothing to do with YG.

So far, fans seem pretty satisfied with the song, pretty much rejoicing over the lyrics and calling it a “feminist diss track” and “queen behavior” from Jennie.
