BLACKPINK once sold out a concert held on the same day as MAMA with the attendance of BTS, TWICE,…
Despite taking place on the same day as MAMA 2019 in Japan, BLACKPINK’s Tokyo Dome concert tickets still sold out.
The 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2021) is about to take place. This is the most anticipated year-end award ceremony. However, top Kpop girl group BLACKPINK does not seem to have much interest in attending MAMA. Back on December 4, 2019, BLACKPINK even held their own concert in the same country and on the exact same day as MAMA.
Specifically, MAMA 2019 brought together many popular Kpop groups such as BTS, TWICE, MAMAMOO, GOT7, ITZY, TXT… to perform at Nagoya Dome (Japan). On the same night, BLACKPINK had a concert at Tokyo Dome, their first stop of the dome tour In Your Area in Japan. With such a coincidence, many netizens raised concerns that BLACKPINK‘s concert would have empty seats.
However, contrary to worries, BLACKPINK successfully filled up Tokyo Dome – the grandest concert venue in Japan that not every Kpop artist can conquer. Tokyo Dome was lit up with a “sea” of BLACKPINK fans’ pink hammer lightsticks.
Before the concert took place, YG also confirmed that BLACKPINK had sold out all tickets at Tokyo Dome, which has a capacity of up to 55,000 seats. Regardless of MAMA, BLACKPINK managed to prove their amazing popularity and solid fandom in Japan.
