BLACKPINK Makes History as the 1st K-pop Girl Group with 1 Billion Spotify Streams for a Song

YG Entertainment announced on March 14th that BLACKPINK’s pre-release track from their first full album, “How You Like That,” has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify. It took approximately 3 years and 8 months since its release on June 26, 2020.

Among K-pop girl groups, BLACKPINK is the first to achieve the milestone of 1 billion streams for a single song. They are the third fastest in the world after the Spice Girls and The Pussycat Dolls to reach this figure.

This achievement reflects BLACKPINK’s influence and enduring popularity in the mainstream music market. With a total of 32 songs, their cumulative streaming count for all tracks released so far is 12.6 billion. Last year, they were officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the “most streamed artist on Spotify among all girl groups worldwide.”

“How You Like That” by BLACKPINK achieved significant success on various global charts. The song topped domestic charts with a “perfect all-kill” and reached number one on iTunes in 64 countries. It also secured positions on the UK Official Singles Top 100 and Billboard Hot 100 at No.20 and No.33, respectively.

Their records on YouTube are even more impressive. The MV for “How You Like That” surpassed 1.2 billion views, while the choreography video, showcasing their powerful performance, has garnered over 1.5 billion views, surpassing the popularity of the main video.

In the past year, BLACKPINK successfully concluded their largest-scale world tour, BORN PINK, consisting of 66 shows in 34 cities.

They also made headlines as the first Asian artist to headline the Coachella Festival in the United States (with a combined attendance of 250,000 over two days) and the Hyde Park in the UK (with 65,000 attendees), engaging with a total of over 2.115 million music fans and solidifying their world-class status.
