BLACKPINK Lisa’s groundbreaking journey from Celine muse to global ambassador

In October 2018, Lisa made history as the first Asian star and the third artist globally (preceded only by Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie) to possess the limited edition Celine 16 bag personalized with her name, a gift from Hedi Slimane himself. 

It’s worth noting that Slimane had just taken the helm as the artistic director of Celine, and the bag had yet to hit the market.

By January 2019, Lisa had ascended to the role of muse for Celine, a pinnacle position under the direction of Hedi Slimane.

By September 2020, Celine solidified its partnership with Lisa, formally appointing her as their global ambassador across all social media platforms. This marked a significant milestone for Celine, as Lisa became the inaugural recipient of the title “Global Ambassador” in the brand’s 75-year history. 

April 2021 saw Lisa gracing the cover of Vogue Japan in collaboration with Celine, a remarkable feat in the realm of KPOP, joining the ranks of Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj as the only other artists to grace the prestigious cover of Vogue Japan.

In February 2022, Lisa made history yet again as the first global ambassador for Celine Haute Parfumerie, serving as the sole representative for this product line.

Lisa received exceptional treatment from the brand in December 2021 (Spring/Summer 22) and May 2022 (Winter 22) when she walked the runway twice to debut the collections, all personally curated by Hedi Slimane.

August 2022 saw Lisa becoming the first Asian star to grace the cover of V magazine.

Lisa boasts an impressive tally of 20 magazine covers (excluding multiples), 2 editorial features, and 5 covers personally shot by artistic director Hedi Slimane.

Notably, Hedi Slimane is renowned for his exacting standards, overseeing every aspect of the brands he oversees. Bernard Arnault, Chairman of LVMH, once hailed him as “one of the most talented designers of our time.”
