On September 7 (local time), the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) was held at UBS Arena in New York, where Lisa was announced as the winner for Born Again, her collaboration with American rapper Doja Cat and British singer-songwriter Raye.
Although she could not attend in person, Lisa shared a heartfelt pre-recorded acceptance speech. “I’m so honored to receive this award. Thank you to the MTV team for this recognition. I also want to thank Doja Cat and Raye for creating such a special song with me, as well as the production team who helped me,” she said.
She went on to express her gratitude to her worldwide supporters: “Without the fans, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve anything.”
Lisa wasn’t the only BLACKPINK member nominated in the category, highlighting the group’s unmatched global popularity. Rosé (Toxic Till the End), Jennie (Like Jennie), and Jisoo (Earthquake) were also recognized with nominations.
It was a historic night for BLACKPINK overall. In addition to Lisa’s win, Rosé made history by becoming the first K-pop artist to win Song of the Year at the VMAs with APT., a collaboration with pop singer Bruno Mars.
