Releasing on Friday, March 6, Boyfriend on Demand is a fantasy-fulfillment romantic comedy about Mi-rae (played by Jisoo), a webtoon PD exhausted by real life, who subscribes to and experiences romance through a virtual dating simulation. Sharing its name with the in-story virtual dating subscription service, Boyfriend on Demand allows users to experience their dream dates in a virtual world. By layering the relatable daily life of modern office workers with the unique concept of “subscribing to romance in a virtual world,” the series promises heart-fluttering excitement. Anticipation is already high for Jisoo’s perfectly tailored role, her chemistry with Seo In-guk known as a “chemistry master” and the involvement of director Kim Jung-sik, who previously delivered realistic yet unconventional romantic comedies like Work Later, Drink Now and No Gain, No Love.
The first poster and teaser trailer were released, showcasing the fresh and intriguing concept of Boyfriend on Demand. In the poster, Mi-rae is seen deep in thought, accompanied by a checklist diagnosing her current relationship status. The relatable checklist especially for modern people who find even dating exhausting paired with the enticing line, “If even one applies to you, subscribe now,” effectively sparks curiosity and the desire to “subscribe” to Boyfriend on Demand.
The teaser trailer reveals an unexpected fantasy of excitement opening up for Mi-rae after she subscribes to Boyfriend on Demand. She steps directly into scenes straight out of a romance webtoon, from a spring campus with cherry blossoms fluttering to a seaside moment just before a kiss. The exhausting realities of everyday life fade away as dreamlike dates unfold before her eyes. The sweet question, “Who would you like to date today?” hints at a new dopamine rush for those who may find romance tiring but still yearn for that fluttering feeling.
Jisoo, who plays Mi-rae and promises strong relatability, described Boyfriend on Demand as “a bubbly romantic comedy about Mi-rae, who desires romance and dopamine but grows as she faces realistic problems, while also offering a wide variety of visual fun.” She added, “It’s a project fully prepared to vicariously satisfy viewers’ sense of excitement. I believe it’s a romantic comedy that will be an especially enjoyable gift of fun for those tired of their repetitive daily lives.”

Seo In-guk, who plays Kyung-nam, also shared his thoughts, calling Boyfriend on Demand “a project with a uniquely appealing concept.” He explained, “It’s fascinating because it shows romance in both virtual reality and the real world at the same time. The key viewing points are the settings and story that move back and forth between reality and the virtual world.”
The thrilling fantasy-fulfillment romantic comedy Boyfriend on Demand, starring Jisoo and Seo In-guk, will be available exclusively on Netflix starting Friday, March 6.
