In a recent interview with CR Fashion Book, where Jennie also graced the cover of the French fashion magazine, she reflected on her experience filming The Idol and addressed the global conversation it stirred.

Jennie played the character Dyanne in the provocative series. Her appearance drew attention not only for her Hollywood debut but also for its highly sexualized scenes, including choreography that mimicked sexual acts and scenes featuring revealing outfits and explicit dance sequences. These moments led to widespread accusations that the production was “sexualizing Jennie” and using her as a “tool for male fantasy.”

Critics didn’t hold back. The Idol, created by Sam Levinson and The Weeknd, was labeled by many as “torture porn” for its excessive eroticism and exploitative themes. The drama was ultimately canceled after just five episodes due to the overwhelming backlash.

Despite the storm, Jennie shared a positive takeaway: “I had a lot of fun on set and learned so much. I want to keep challenging myself in acting,” she said.

Her comments signal a resilient attitude and a clear interest in continuing her acting journey, despite the turbulent start.

Jennie also spoke about her first solo full-length album Ruby, released in March 2025. “Through Ruby, I learned more about what I like and dislike. I’m still a student of music. I want to dive deeper into what I’ve learned,” she explained. “I’d love to create a genre of my own rooted in hip-hop and R&B, but I’m also open to trying other styles.”

Meanwhile, Jennie continues to dominate the global stage as BLACKPINK carries on with their ‘Deadline’ world tour.
