After three nights of concerts in Hong Kong (China), BLACKPINK officially wrapped up their DEADLINE world tour, which consisted of a total of 33 shows over roughly six months. The members’ repeated references to a “final concert” left fans deeply unsettled, as this was one of the rare tours to end so abruptly, without any announcement of encore shows.
At the final concert night, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé were unable to hold back their tears as they emotionally addressed BLINKs (BLACKPINK’s fandom), knowing they would be separated from fans for a long time. Fans even captured moments of Jennie sobbing on stage, further fueling speculation that BLACKPINK might be heading toward disbandment as the contract renewal period draws near.

Recently, on the talk show/podcast Call Her Daddy, Rosé spoke openly for the first time about rumors surrounding BLACKPINK’s possible disbandment. When host Alex asked, “Have you ever talked about what would happen if one of you didn’t want to continue with BLACKPINK?”, Rosé replied:

“I think we have… I don’t remember if there was a specific conversation about it. But if one of us feels that, at that point in time, continuing is no longer the right thing, then everyone would respect that decision.

BLACKPINK is like any relationship: if someone isn’t ready for something, that needs to be respected. And I think we’ve always been prepared to do that, because there are only four of us. We would never dismiss anyone’s decision at any point in their life. We believe that every decision made is the right one for that person.”

Rosé’s response immediately sent the fan community into a frenzy. Although the member often praised as BLACKPINK’s strongest vocalist did not directly mention disbandment, her statement that the group would respect a member’s choice “not to continue” was seen by many as an indirect confirmation that disbandment remains a real possibility for the global girl group.

On social media, many BLINKs believe Rosé is emotionally preparing fans for all possible scenarios. Others see her comments as a realistic reflection of the group’s situation; after nearly 10 years of activity, each member has her own individual path to consider.

BLACKPINK has entered a rare stage for a K-pop girl group: unparalleled global fame, massive commercial value and, at the same time, increasing pressure regarding personal direction. Especially after more than a year of intensified solo activities, all four members have achieved notable success in music, fashion, and entertainment, clearly proving their ability to thrive independently. As a result, BLACKPINK’s future has become a hot topic among fans and industry experts alike, particularly as contract renewal discussions approach.

That said, BLINKs are still “lighting candles” in hope that with the official release of the DEADLINE mini album, BLACKPINK will continue the world tour under the same name to promote new songs. Meanwhile, Korean media has reported that the four global stars are expected to continue the DEADLINE tour with six additional concerts in North America and South Korea. Although this information has yet to be confirmed, it suggests that BLACKPINK’s group activities may not be ending anytime soon.

Moreover, August 8 will mark BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary since their debut. This milestone is considered a crucial moment—not only for fans, but also for the members themselves, as the group’s future direction will likely be determined after a full decade together.
