BLACKPINK Becomes 1st K-pop Act with Multiple 2 Billion View MVs

On August 31st, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK’s music video for “Kill This Love” surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube around 7:44 AM. This remarkable milestone was achieved approximately 5 years and 5 months after its release on April 5, 2019.

With this, BLACKPINK has become the first and only K-pop artist to have 2 music videos surpass 2 billion views among their total of 46 videos with over 100 million views. Their other mega-hit, “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” currently exceeds 2.2 billion views.

In addition, the girl group is currently the only Asian act and female group (without feature) to have multiple music videos surpass the 2 billion-view milestone on YouTube, as well as the youngest YouTube channel to achieve such a feat in history.

On the other hand, the “Kill This Love” music video received an explosive response from global music fans for its dynamic performances and sophisticated visuals. The addictive choreography, particularly the gun-shooting motion, was praised and made it the only K-pop song to enter the “Top 10 Most Viewed Music Videos Worldwide in 2019”.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s overwhelming influence on YouTube remains strong. Their official YouTube channel has over 94.7 million subscribers, the highest number among all male and female artists worldwide, and their accumulated content views have surpassed 36.7 billion.
