On September 12 (local time), Billboard published an article titled “All the 2024 VMAs Performances Ranked From Worst to Best”.
According to this article, Billboard found the “Rockstar” and “New Woman” performances of BLACKPINK’s Lisa to be the worst throughout the award show, stating, “Lisa’s solo turn at the 2024 VMAs felt like a swing and a miss.”
The media outlet also added, “‘New Woman’ could have used a little oomph from Rosalía, and the ‘Rockstar’ choreography was solid but never head-turning, much less show-stopping.”
It seems that despite her historic win of “Best Kpop” for the 2nd time as a solo artist, BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s set wasn’t enough to impress the music media site.
Reacting to this, however, many netizens argued against the ranking, with comments such as “LISA AT LAST??? Baby no her performance was Top 5”, “They did Lisa dirty”, and “Lisa at 16? Noooo wayyyy”, can be seen under the comment section of related topics.
On the other hand, Lisa was previously accused of lip-syncing at the 2024 VMAs, but many netizens fiercely defend her.
