On August 22, You Quiz on the Block’s official SNS account shared a clip with the caption: “Who would have thought we’d see Bill Gates solving You Quiz on the Block questions! Did he win the 1 million won prize?”
In the video, host Yoo Jae-suk asks Gates, “You Quiz?” to which Gates replies confidently, “Yes.” Yoo Jae-suk then presents a challenge: identify the oldest Windows startup sound from four different options. Gates listens carefully, pauses thoughtfully, and requests to hear the sounds again before making his decision.
Gates’ quiz attempt will air on August 27.
Earlier, on August 20, the show’s official Instagram account shared behind-the-scenes images from the special recording session with Bill Gates, captioning the post with excitement:
“Who would have thought we’d see a day like this—filming with none other than Bill Gates.”

However, the comments section soon filled with criticism from certain netizens. Comments included: “Now that Bill Gates is here, mandatory vaccinations are coming,” “Please broadcast Yoo Jae-suk getting vaccinated live,” “Why is he so obsessed with vaccines when he’s not even a doctor? Because he makes money, reduces population, and gains multiple benefits?” and “Here comes ‘Kill Gates’ to sell vaccines.”
This is not the first time such claims have surfaced. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, conspiracy theories alleging that Gates was behind the pandemic circulated widely online. Some netizens claimed that “Gates created the viral outbreak,” or that he intended to “implant tracking devices through vaccines.”
In 2021, Gates responded to these allegations, calling them “insane and evil,” adding that he never could have imagined such rumors. He stressed that he hoped people would stop believing in baseless conspiracies.
