On March 20 at 1 PM, a screening event for the Netflix documentary BTS: The Return was held at Cinecube in Gwanghwamun, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Director Bao Nguyen, executive producer Jane Cha Cutler, and Kim Hyun-jung (Vice President of BigHit Music) attended the event.

In response to comments about the inclusion of more private moments such as the members drinking soju, using casual language, and playing games Kim acknowledged that there had been significant internal discussion. “Both within the company and among the artists, there were many concerns. However, as BTS begins a new Chapter 2.0, we decided to show a more honest, mature, and authentic side of the group,” she explained.

When asked about the members’ reactions after watching the completed documentary, Kim said, “They felt a bit unfamiliar seeing themselves in a different light compared to before, but overall they were satisfied. They were also very grateful to director Bao Nguyen for capturing them so beautifully.”

Meanwhile, BTS: The Return documents the group’s journey as they reunite after a long hiatus and work toward completing their music for a comeback. Since their debut in 2013, BTS has made history across the global music scene, and this documentary reflects on their past while highlighting their preparation for the next chapter as artists. BTS: The Return is set to premiere on Netflix on March 27 at 4 PM.
