South Korean rapper BewhY has made a surprising and deeply personal announcement: the closure of his hip-hop label Dejavu Group, nine years after its founding.
In a lengthy statement released on May 1, the artist reflected on his decade-long career and candidly admitted failure—an unusually honest move in the K-hip-hop industry.
“However, now I will face it. I have failed.” BewhY did not shy away from responsibility. He acknowledged that his decisions in business, relationships, and personal beliefs did not go as planned.
“This decision was not made lightly, and all responsibility lies entirely with me.”
Founded in 2017, Dejavu Group began as a one-man agency and later expanded by signing talented rappers in 2019, becoming a respected name in Korea’s hip-hop scene.
BewhY rose to fame after winning Show Me The Money 5, where his technical skills and unique style earned widespread acclaim.
Following his success, he established Dejavu Group to pursue creative independence and nurture new talent. For years, the label symbolized artistic control and ambition.
Despite outward success, BewhY revealed that things were not going smoothly behind the scenes: business challenges, strained relationships and internal doubts and misjudgments.
He admitted that he avoided acknowledging these issues for a long time out of fear of confronting failure. “I was afraid that the word ‘failure’ would follow me.”
Ultimately, BewhY chose to let go: “I realized my limits and decided to put down what I had been clinging to.”
He also expressed gratitude to the artists who trusted and worked with him, while apologizing to fans who supported the label over the years.
The closure of Dejavu Group does not mark the end of BewhY’s career—but rather a turning point.
His honesty has sparked discussion among fans and netizens, with many praising his accountability and vulnerability. In an industry where success narratives dominate, his admission stands out.
