“Beauty Salon Scammers” Celebrity Couple Faces New Accusations of “Luxury Goods Fraud” with Over 1 Billion Won in Damages

Celebrity couple A, who previously sparked controversy with the so-called "beauty salon scam", is now facing additional accusations

On August 5th, an online post titled “Help Us Against the Celebrity Couple Scammers” was shared by netizen B.

In the post, B claimed that aside from the beauty salon incident, the couple also engaged in a fraudulent luxury goods distribution course funding and a scam involving a luxury department store boutique.

According to B, the couple conducted three rounds of funding on Wadiz by falsely advertising that they could teach participants how to sign contracts with Italian boutiques using small investments.

However, the courses were not conducted as originally advertised, and after making investment proposals to the participants, the couple allegedly took the corporate shares and investment money and cut off all contact. Some participants faced permanent sales suspensions when they tried to open stores on Naver, and many others never even received the goods they were promised. Additionally, the couple allegedly did not return the deposit for a luxury boutique at a department store, leading to a lawsuit that has been ongoing since 2021. The estimated damages from this scam alone are said to exceed 1 billion won.

B further stated, “First-round participants informed Wadiz about the discrepancies in the curriculum and the ongoing lawsuit regarding the department store deposit, but these warnings were ignored, and a second round of funding was conducted, increasing the number of victims. The perpetrators continue to carry out business and investment scams under family names. Since A is a little-known actress, it has been difficult to bring attention to the issue.”

The couple A is also accused of receiving haircare services worth 3.5 million won at a beauty salon in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul for their family and their lawyer without paying.
