According to Sina Entertainment on July 16, Barbie Hsu‘s ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, was spotted at a shopping mall in Beijing alongside his two children, his new wife, and his mother, Zhang Lan. The outing marks the children’s first known public appearance with Wang since custody was granted to him following Hsu’s sudden death in February 2024.
Reports describe a heartwarming scene: Wang carried his daughter, while his new wife held his son. Observers noted the daughter has grown significantly and bears a striking resemblance to her late mother, Barbie Hsu. The little girl appeared shy and stayed close to her father as people recognized them, while the younger son waved happily to the cameras.
Barbie Hsu had famously rekindled her romance with K-pop artist DJ Koo (Koo Jun-yup) and married him in 2022, two decades after their initial relationship. The couple had been living in Taiwan until Hsu’s sudden death from pneumonia triggered by influenza during a family trip to Japan in February 2024.
Following her passing, custody of the children was awarded to Wang Xiaofei, Hsu’s ex-husband and the children’s biological father. This visit to Beijing marks the first time the children have appeared in public with Wang since his custodial rights were restored. Sources cited by Chinese media clarified that the children will continue living and studying in Taiwan, only visiting Wang during school holidays.
