This is Ban Min Jung’s first return to the small screen, about 6 years after starring in the KBS2 drama “That Sun in the Sky”, which concluded in 2017. Although she appeared in the movie “Last Blue, Last Dance” in 2022, her role in “My Gold, My Jade” is meaningful in that it marks her first time returning with a drama series.

In the past, Ban Min Jung revealed herself to be the victim of Jo Duk Je’s sexual harassment case, which happened during filming in 2015. It is reported that the Supreme Court sentenced Jo Duk Je to 1 year in prison and 2 years of probation.

On top of this, from 2017 to 2018, Jo Duk Je was handed over to trial on charges of posting articles on the Internet that defamed Ban Min Jung. After being sentenced to 1 year in prison in the first trial, his sentence was reduced to 11 months in prison in the appeals trial. Afterwards, the Supreme Court dismissed Jo Duk Je’s appeal and accepted the lower court’s sentence of 11 months in prison.

Regarding the confirmation of Jo Duk Je’s actual sentence, Ban Min Jung said, “The limited judicial period to punish acts such as defamation crimes is truly vicious, it would have been impossible to arrest all of them in prison. It seems that our society now needs a more sober view and judgment toward criminals and a warm touch toward victims.”

On the other hand, Ban Min Jung’s upcoming new daily drama “My Gold, My Jade” is a delightful and heartbreaking story of a family raising their precious children, centering on a single father and an adopted child.

Meanwhile, KBS1’s new daily drama “My Gold, My Jade” will premiere on March 27th at 8:30 PM (KST), following “Love in Eyes”.
