Baekhyun Criticized for Mentioning EXO’s Fandom Name During Lawsuit with SM

A topic about Baekhyun’s message to fans during his ongoing conflict with SM entertainment is drawing attention.

On June 17, a topic titled “The message that EXO’s Baekhyun sent yesterday on Bubble” was published on the Korean forum theqoo, garnering over 67,000 views and 400 comments within just a few hours.

In the topic, a message sent by Baekhyun a day prior via the fan communication app Bubble was attached, saying, “To Eri, who gave me unconditional love in a world without unconditionality, I hope that today is a little better than yesterday. I just miss you a lot”.

It is known that “Eri” is an endearment term used to call EXO-Ls (fans of EXO).

While the message itself is sweet, Baekhyun, alongside fellow EXO members Xiumin and Chen, is currently in conflict with SM Entertainment, leading to possible hinders for EXO’s activities as a group.

As a result, many criticisms were made against Baekhyun. Below are some comments from netizens:

  • Wow hahaha please keep your words and actions consistent.
  • The three of you should go out and come up with a separate fandom name and call your fans that haha.
  • Why do you use someone else’s IP (referring to EXO’s fandom name) without permission when you know that nothing is unconditional?
  • Isn’t Eri a word that refers to EXO fans? Why are you using Eri like that????
  • You make the fans who gave you unconditional love have conditions… It’s amazing.
  • So he’s really here asking fans to love him unconditionally despite his actions? Wow
