Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin (CBX): Only Relationship with SM is EXO

EXO CBX (Chen-Baekhyun-Xiumin) is practically embarking on separate journeys. After facing a dispute following their contract renewal with SM Entertainment (hereafter SM), the trio eventually decided to pursue individual paths through adjustments in specific terms.

On January 8, Baekhyun, who have established the label I&B100, officially announced the full-fledged independence of the label from SM. Xiumin and Chen will join the label for individual activities, meaning that the CBX’s only relationship with SM is now just EXO.

“Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen will conduct individual activities and team activities as CBXunder I&B100, while EXO group activities will continue under SM”, the company announced.

Meanwhile, SM conveyed, “In the case of Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, it has been agreed that artists can independently pursue personal activities under the exclusive contract.”

Previously, Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin experienced a contract dispute with SM after renewal. However, the 2 sides eventually settled on an agreement. Although the detailed content of the agreement was not disclosed due to its contractual nature, it is speculated that adjustments were made regarding the specifics of individual label activities within the scope of the new contract.

Having spent approximately 12 years together since their debut in 2012, CBX has now established independence from SM for all entertainment endeavors, except for EXO activities.

On the other hand, Baekhyun had already established I&B100 on June 23 of the previous year (as reported exclusively by TEN Asia). Baekhyun serves as the CEO of the company, having completed all necessary registrations.
