Bada: “aespa’s ‘Next Level’ Dance Made Instantly, Struggled with Getting the Angles Right”

On the 28th, MBC M’s “Weekly Idol” featured the BEBE crew, who won “Street Woman Fighter 2.” The crew performed an impromptu dance routine. Boom and Mina, and Lee Jang-jun and Tatter competed in a dance battle, with the two pairs performing aespa’s “Armageddon.” The result was a victory for Tatter.

Next, the members, from the youngest Sowon to Lusher, Kyma, Chaechae, Mina, Tatter, and leader Bada introduced themselves. The BEBE team explained that they wore yellow outfits inspired by the “Weekly Idol” logo color.

Bada shared her thoughts on BEBE being the first dance team to appear on “Weekly Idol”: “I feel that I made the right choice becoming a dancer. I never dreamed I would appear on ‘Weekly Idol.’ I’ll show all my passion and everything I’ve got.”

Bada named Tatter as the member who irritates her the most these days, saying, “Tatter enters the practice room with his distinctive posture.” Tatter, known for his sensitivity, named Mina as the most easily hurt. Mina responded, “I think Tatter is more sensitive than I am.” The members’ votes confirmed that Mina was indeed the most sensitive. Boom commented, “This is the cleanest vote I’ve ever seen.”

Bada selected aespa’s “Next Level” as the most challenging song she’s worked on, saying it was tearfully difficult. She explained, “Aligning the angles and timing of the ‘ㄷ dance’ was not easy. I initially thought of creating a sweeping motion to convey the feeling of “Next level.’” Although the “ㄷ dance” was created instantly, the initial draft almost used a palm support.

Mina mentioned that Bada searches for her own name the most among the members, to which Bada laughed and said, “Actually, I really love myself.”

Bada also noted that Lusher is often compared to Julie from Kiss of Life. She deliberated between Lusher and Mina for the team’s “sexy queen” and ultimately declared Lusher as the winner after she performed Kiss of Life’s “Sticky.” Watching this, Boom joked, “She even flips her hair the same way,” raising suspicions of practice and eliciting laughs.

A voting session for the “Professional Responder” who gave the most honest answers after the weekly relay N questions and answers began. Lee Jang-jun remarked, “Five out of seven minutes were voted for themselves,” which brought laughter to the scene. Thanks to the honest voters Kima and Lusher, the Professional Responders were chosen as Mina and Chaechae.

Following this, BEBE’s random play dance segment began. Although the dances were upgraded to three times the speed, causing some confusion among the members, they performed choreography from Dynamic Duo, Lee Young-ji’s “Smoke” as well as from Hwasa, Stray Kids, and NCT Dream.
