BABYMONSTER praised by WINNER and Suhyun, BLACKPINK Lisa makes a surprise visit

On March 17th, YG Entertainment posted a video titled “BABYMONSTER – ‘Last Evaluation’ EP.2” on BABYMONSTER’s official YouTube channel. In the video, the 7 introduced members were spreaded into 2 teams, with Team A (Ruka, Pharita, Ahyeon) performing BLACKPINK Rosé’s “Gone” and Team B (Asa, Haram, Rora, Chiquita) preparing for BLACKPINK’s “Stay”.

Team A’s “Gone” stage shined with powerful synergy. Ahyeon, known for her flexible vocal technique, perfectly delivered the difficult chorus, while Pharita added depth with her clear and soulful voice. Ruka’s sharp rap was added to the calm melody, making for a “Gone” cover that showcases the unique colors of the trio.

Watching the stage, YG senior artists couldn’t hold back praises. In particular, WINNER Lee Seunghoon mentioned Pharita and said, “That gave me goosebumps. Your voice going into the song was so nice“. Meanwhile, WINNER Kang Seungyoon highly praised the girls, saying, “The part I liked the most was how all your  facial expressions and acting were good. You were all so into the song and enjoyed the moment.”

Afterwards, the mission of Team B was revealed, and the four members, known for their strong teamwork, started with part distribution and began serious practice.

In the meantime, Asa attracted attention by volunteering to be Chiquita’s Korean teacher. Despite being from Japan, her Korean proficiency is excellent, to the point she can answer difficult idiomatic expressions with ease. She helped Chiquita improve her pronunciation and enhance the overall quality of their performance.

As the song depicts the pain of a breakup, accurate song interpretation and appropriate emotional expression were crucial, so AKMU Suhyun made a surprise appearance as Team B’s special mentor. Here, Suhyun shared her know-how, saying that she created a movie in her head to express the emotions of love well.

BABYMONSTER’s performance of “Stay”, as well as their preparation for the next mission – a group dance evaluation song, will be revealed in the third episode. In addition, BLACKPINK Lisa’s surprise visit is anticipated, teasing another interesting senior-junior chemistry.

Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is YG’s first rookie girl group in about seven years since BLACKPINK. The prospective members of the group are mostly teenagers from 3 different nationalities, including 3 Koreans (Ahyeon, Haram, Rora), two Thais (Pharita, Chiquita), and two Japanese (Ruka, Asa).
