Auspicious Day cast

Auspicious Day follows newlyweds Woo Jin and Hee Yeon, who begin experiencing a series of disturbing supernatural events on what is supposed to be the luckiest day to move into their new home. Their lives take an unexpected turn after meeting Tae Joo, a shaman who insists that a spiritual ritual is necessary before disaster strikes. The story unfolds over the course of a single intense day.

Byun Yo Han takes on the role of Tae Joo, a talented shaman and disciple of a powerful spiritual master. Known for his acclaimed performances in films such as Pavane, Following, and Hansan: Rising Dragon, Byun is expected to deliver another commanding performance as the mysterious figure who suddenly appears before the couple, becoming the driving force behind the film’s suspense.

Ahn Jae Hong has been cast as Woo Jin, a lawyer who believes only in logic and tangible evidence. Following memorable performances in Hi-Five, Mask Girl, and his special appearance in The King’s Warden, Ahn continues to showcase his versatility. His character struggles to maintain rationality while facing increasingly inexplicable events. Audiences are particularly eager to see the fresh on-screen chemistry between Ahn Jae Hong and Byun Yo Han, who are working together for the first time.

Ha Yoon Kyung, who won praise for her emotionally nuanced performances in dramas such as Undercover Miss Hong and Extraordinary Attorney Woo, plays Hee Yeon, Woo Jin’s wife. As strange incidents continue to escalate, Hee Yeon finds herself pulled deeper into the heart of the mystery. Ha is expected to portray the character’s growing fear, confusion, and emotional turmoil with convincing realism.

Adding to the excitement is director Huh Jung, who previously impressed audiences with suspense hits including Hide and Seek and The Mimic. Known for creating psychological tension from ordinary everyday situations, Huh is expected to bring another gripping genre film to audiences. The project is jointly produced by A-lister Studio and BA Entertainment, raising expectations for another high-quality Korean thriller.

Auspicious Day is also one of the first major investment and distribution projects from CGV Pictures, the newly launched film division established by CGV as it expands into the investment and distribution business in 2025. The company is preparing to release its first flagship project, Okay! Madam 2, later this year while continuing to strengthen its presence through content planning, investment, and distribution.

Production on Auspicious Day officially began on June 14 and is currently underway.
