Biography
Kim Ye-rim, better known by her stage name Yeri, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Red Velvet, managed by SM Entertainment, and serves as the group’s maknae (youngest member). Yeri has expanded her career to include television hosting, acting, and solo musical work.
Early Life and Education
Kim Ye-rim was born on March 5, 1999, in Seoul, South Korea. She grew up with three younger sisters: Yoo-rim, Ye-eun, and Chae-eun. Yeri developed an interest in music and performance from a young age and successfully auditioned for SM Entertainment’s Weekly Audition in 2011, subsequently joining the company as a trainee.
She attended Hanlim Multi Art School, a well-known educational institution for aspiring performers, and graduated in 2018, balancing her training with academic commitments.
Career
Pre-Debut and Introduction to Red Velvet
As an SM trainee, Yeri was part of SM Rookies, the company’s pre-debut training team, and appeared in related content prior to her official debut. She also made a brief appearance in the introduction of Red Velvet’s debut single Happiness in 2014 before being formally added to the group.
On March 11, 2015, Yeri was officially introduced as the fifth member of Red Velvet, joining Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy during promotions for the group’s first extended play Ice Cream Cake. Her addition marked a key point in the group’s evolving lineup and contributed to broadening the group’s dynamic.
Red Velvet Activities (2015–Present)
Since joining Red Velvet, Yeri has participated in all group comebacks, performances, and international promotions alongside her bandmates. Known for her energetic presence and youthful charm, she contributes as a vocalist, rapper, and dancer, while also representing the group’s playful and spirited side.
