Biography

Moon Sang-min is a South Korean actor and model. He is best known for his roles in the television dramas Under the Queen’s Umbrella (2022) and Wedding Impossible (2024). He has received critical acclaim and multiple awards for his performances, notably winning Best New Actor – Television at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2023.

Early Life and Education

Moon Sang-min was born on April 14, 2000, in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. He has an older brother. He graduated from the Fashion Model Department at Hanlim Multi Art School, a prestigious arts high school known for producing many Korean entertainers, and he later enrolled at Sungkyunkwan University.

Career

Modeling and Acting Debut (2018–2020)

Moon began his entertainment career as a model, walking his first runway at the 2018 F/W Sewing Boundaries Collection. In 2019, he made his acting debut in the web drama 4 Reasons Why I Hate Christmas.

He continued to build his portfolio with roles in web series including The Colors of Our Time and The Mermaid Prince: The Beginning.

Breakthrough in Television (2021–Present)

In 2021, Moon appeared in the Netflix action series My Name as a young detective, gaining broader visibility in international markets.

His breakout role came in 2022 when he starred as Grand Prince Seongnam (Yi Kang) in the historical drama Under the Queen’s Umbrella. His performance was widely praised and led to a significant rise in popularity, along with multiple acting awards and numerous endorsement offers.

In 2023, Moon starred in the coming-of-age military thriller Duty After School. In 2024, he took on the leading role of Lee Ji-han in the romantic comedy Wedding Impossible and appeared in Cinderella at 2 AM. He also made a special appearance in Love Your Enemy.
